GAIL SIMON began teaching Hebrew and religious school in 1975 in Cleveland, Ohio and has taught continuously since then. In 1988, she was awarded a grant to attend the Coalition for Advancement of Jewish Education (CAJE) Conference in Jerusalem which inspired her to change careers to become a full-time Jewish educator.
To do so, she studied at the College of Jewish Studies in Cleveland and Hebrew University in Jerusalem. In 1990, she was selected as a recipient of the Ratner Fellowship awarded to outstanding Jewish educators in the Cleveland area.
After she moved to the Clearwater area, her dream of becoming a full-time Jewish educator was fulfilled when she became director of education of Temple Bínai Israel in Clearwater on May 1, 1991.
Gail has a bachelorís in library scence from the University of Florida and a master of education in counseling from Kent State University. She has worked as a school and college librarian, as administrator and teacher of a program for chemically dependent adolescents and is certified in serveral areas including learning disabilites and behavior disorders.
Gail is married to Steve Simon and is the mother of two grown children.
